From April 20 to 26, 2026, Alcova returns to Milan for its eleventh edition, continuing its exploration of design through architecture, history, and overlooked urban landscapes
This year’s program of Alcova Milano unfolds across two remarkable locations that, though very different in nature, together embody Milan’s layered identity: the Baggio Military Hospital Complex and Villa Pestarini.

Set in the Primaticcio district, the Baggio Military Hospital is a vast post–World War I complex immersed in greenery. After hosting Alcova in 2021 and 2022, the site is reactivated once again—this time through the opening of entirely new, previously inaccessible spaces. Visitors will be able to explore areas such as a former church and rectory, as well as a historic archive, revealing further chapters in the evolving memory of the place. Over decades, the hospital has developed into a hybrid environment where architecture and nature intertwine, forming a living ecosystem that continually blurs the line between the built and the organic.

A few kilometres away, Alcova introduces an entirely new venue: Villa Pestarini, designed in 1938–39 by Franco Albini. It is the only villa Albini ever designed in Milan and one of the most refined expressions of Italian rationalist architecture. Long kept as a private residence and never before opened to the public, the villa appears almost untouched by time. Its white, rectilinear volume, glass-block façades, and generous windows establish a measured dialogue with the surrounding garden. Inside, Albini’s architectural language unfolds with precision and restraint—shallow marble staircases, sliding partitions, and custom-designed furnishings reflect his unmistakable balance of rigor and poetic sensibility.
Together, the Baggio Military Hospital and Villa Pestarini create a powerful architectural dialogue between reinvention and preservation. Within this framework, Alcova Milano 2026 will once again host a diverse constellation of designers, studios, companies, and institutions, forming a temporary microcosm that reflects the creative forces shaping contemporary design culture.
