INSIDE Beauty comes from within

As part of Fuori Salone during Milan Design Week 2026, in the heart of the Duomo district, Linea Lombardo SA opens its studio to host INSIDE, a project that draws attention to a practice that has become almost invisible: the widespread use of petroleum-based synthetic foams inside furniture.
As designers working across hospitality projects, we constantly face the need to select furniture that must endure over time, balancing comfort, resistance and long-term value.

Today, particularly in the high-end market, furniture appears flawless in form and finish, with communication focused on the outer shell— materials, stitching and brand image. Yet this attention often conceals a less discussed dimension: what defines comfort? Shouldn’t what lies within come first?
The interior, although essential, often remains standardized and poorly documented.

From this reflection, INSIDE is not a revolution but an invitation to clarity: to look beyond the surface and question what truly supports a form. If an object can be filled in different ways, why not consider this choice as part of design?

The exhibition unfolds across two dimensions: a professional approach presenting prototypes made with alternatives to synthetic fillings, and a conceptual one that translates the theme into simple, immediate scenarios.

INSIDE is developed with RiceHouse and Imbotex, with textiles by Fischbacher and Eurotessuti, and contributions from Numerodue and Brunati Meda.
Visitors are left with a question: what are we really choosing when selecting a piece of furniture—and what defines its value over time?

ABOUT LINEA LOMBARDO
Linea Lombardo is an architecture and interior design studio established in 2006 by Christophe Lombardo. The studio has been based in Montreux ever since, with a second office in Milan opened in 2016. The studio specializes in hospitality projects, managing every phase from concept development through procurement, coordination, and on site implementation. 

A significant part of the work focuses on renovation, including historical buildings, where the approach is guided by respect for the existing architecture and the identity of each place. 

Working closely with an international network of manufacturers and artisans, projects are delivered with precision and reliability, always maintaining a pragmatic approach to timelines and budgets. In hospitality, however, the true measure of success is the guest, whose comfort and experience ultimately define the value of the spaces created.
