Also the Salone del Mobile in Milan is confirmed, from 5 to 10 September

News, Osservatorio — 29 April 2021

The news came after a few weeks of uncertainty: the event will take place at the fair in Rho with downsized pavilions, and, in sinergy with Fuorisalone, the city and its players, will be assigned to an internationally renowned curator.

After several weeks of suspense and uncertainty, rumors and hypotheses on the specialized magazines, the confirmation of the 2021 edition of the Salone del Mobile has arrived: from 5 to 10 September the event will be held at FieraMilano in Rho. Following Claudio Luti's recent resignation from the presidency, the fifty-ninth edition has been announced on the evening of Wednesday 28 April. As explained in a note, "it will have a brand new look, focused on enhancing the companies' innovations, technologies and projects. To pick up "the thread" interrupted in presence, but not in relation, contact with the market, professionals, customers or simple enthusiasts".

The September edition will have an exceptional international curator, say the organisers, and "will feature exhibitions and themed itineraries integrated with products and innovations from the last 18 months: these will dialogue with the new, unprecedented digital platform that will be presented shortly".

The idea is that Salone and Fuorisalone will once again work in synergy, after the three editions from June 2020 to April 2021, between digital and physical carried out only by Fuorisalone, for Milan and the design community, finding its international showcase in the formula of the design week.

"I am confident that the event will be a success thanks to the support received from the institutions, first and foremost from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Prime Minister's Office, as well as from the other ministries involved and participating," stresses Gianfranco Marinelli, President of FLA Eventi SpA. "And to the willingness of companies to contribute to the success of the event, we will be able to create an innovative and attractive international quality exhibition. We are aware that the success of an event such as the Salone del Mobile.Milano will be confirmed by the fact that citizens will understand and appreciate, once again, the contribution it is able to give to the country in terms of growth, image and credibility. I am proud to say that this time too we will be giving our contribution".

"I would like to thank the FederlegnoArredo Presidential Board, the members of the Federlegno Arredo Eventi Board of Directors and our entrepreneurs for sharing their points of view, ideas and needs," said FederlegnoArredo President Claudio Feltrin. "This teamwork will enable us to organise a special, unique edition, as unique is the period we are living in. We have won a great challenge: to give the companies, from large to small, that represent the network of the supply chain, the best showcase to highlight international excellence and made in Italy". "Now we will continue in this direction as always in close synergy with the City of Milan. The expressions of respect and support that have been received in recent days from all national and local institutions are the best recognition of the many entrepreneurs who, over the years, have made the Salone del Mobile a unique concept admired throughout the world".

This confirmation of the 2021 edition is an important step for the restart of the furniture and design sector, but also for the city of Milan, as Mayor Beppe Sala pointed out in a statement on Facebook: "The Salone del Mobile 2021 will take place and it is a great news for Milan and Italy. It will be a unique edition, coming after a year's stop and in a still delicate and complex health and socio-economic context, certainly more than attractive. And the fact that Milan will host the Salone this year is in itself a very valuable message of hope and trust, in view of the recovery."

As already announced, Fuorisalone, in synergy with some of the Milanese companies that have contributed to making this international design showcase famous, is committed to creating a special edition that will have the entire city of Milan as its stage, with the aim of offering quality opportunities to companies in the sector. In an engaging, dynamic, sustainable and inclusive way, in a context in which digital and physical must coexist thanks to a project that is conscious of the new needs and the paradigm shift in the trade fair format, which can no longer be thought as the one we have known in the past.

The next edition of Fuorisalone is 127 days away, see you in September. Keep following us: our editorial plan is active all year round, including product news, long forms and cultural events not to be missed.
