Officine Saffi, a space dedicated to contemporary ceramics and its value as an artistic language, offers summer courses designed for those who want to slow down, reconnect with material, and explore new forms of creative expression.
Inside its beautiful studios, Fondazione Officine Saffi promotes an inclusive educational program open to everyone—from beginners to more experienced makers—blending tradition with experimentation. Between the potter’s wheel, coiling, and hand-building techniques, clay becomes the medium for a different kind of summer.

THE WORKSHOPS
Wheel-Throwing Course
This course focuses on the creation of ceramic objects using the wheel-throwing technique. Over the span of six sessions, each participant will learn the fundamentals of working on the potter’s wheel, with guidance provided at every step. From centering the clay to shaping and trimming, participants will gain hands-on experience in making simple, functional pieces such as bowls, cylindrical containers, vases, and cups.

Ceramics Fundamentals 1: Hand-Building and Shaping Techniques
This beginner-level course introduces participants to working with clay by combining both theoretical and practical knowledge. Through hands-on learning, students will create simple, everyday or decorative objects using core hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction.
The course invites participants to engage with clay in a tactile, personal, and reflective way—perfect for those approaching ceramics for the first time or looking to reconnect with the material.
