Stockholm Design Week: design invades Stockholm!

Design Week Stockholm and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair: many the events marked on the calendar, 4 shall not be missed.

Since 2002, the year of the first edition of the Design Week in Stockholm, the event has evolved, opening the happenings also to the public, with the ambition to make Stockholm the window on Scandinavian design. To achieve this objective, design merges with fashion, food and architecture.

For those who will be in Stockholm from February 5-11 here is a list of 4 initiatives open to the public, which shall not to be missed!

The Light House, Feb 5-11
Kungsträdgården
It is the design project of the Stockholm Design Week. Philips and the Swedish design group Ames Studio propose a light experience that also becomes an information and inspiration platform. By combining Light design and information media an interactive space with a 360-degree perspective has been created.

Smultronstället, Feb 5-11
Jussi Pavilion, Kungsträdgården
To celebrate Ingmar Bergman's 100th birthday, the students from the Product Development Furniture Design course at Jönköping University School of Engineering have interpreted Bergman's life through 7 unique objects.

Möbeldesignmuseum (Furniture Design Museum), Feb. 5-11
Magasin 6, Frihamnen
The architects Kersti Sandin Bûlow and Lars Bülow will open the doors of their private collection of furniture and design works. The collection includes more than 700 objects created by the most important Scandinavian and international designers.

Young Swedish Design, Feb 8 - March 18
ArkDes, Skeppsholmen
An exhibition that displays 20 pieces from a range of disciplines: product design, fashion, crafts and furniture. The entrance is free!
